For the first time, the Musée des Beaux-Arts is hosting a scientific exhibition by the Muséum des Sciences naturelles.
Faluns are typical of the Anjou region. The term “falun” refers to sedimentary rock, made from animal remains and formed 15 million years ago. The aim of this exhibition is to present Miocene-era faluns from the Anjou-Touraine region, from a geological, paleontological, historical and cultural heritage dimension, in an educational approach adapted to the general public. The exhibition is also an opportunity to update knowledge by incorporating the scientific findings and discoveries of the past thirty years. Five hundred objects are on display, comprising around 350 different species: original fossils, fossil casts and reconstructions of extinct animals. A whole host of fun, educational resources are available for visitors, young and old alike.
